Our Junior and Senior groups take part in weekly drama sessions where they’re encouraged to let their imagination run free through games, improvisations, script work and devising work. We guide them in developing their confidence through creativity. These groups take part in a range of projects throughout the year including Plays, Short Films, Variety Shows, Guest Workshops and much more. Our aim is to allow them to express and explore in a fun, safe and supportive environment whilst enriching them with as many experiences as possible.
Dramaworkshop was founded by Esther Stanford and when she handed the company over to Greg & Rebecca they chose to use her name ‘Esther’ (which means ‘Star’) as the
theme for their group names. Each groups name has a special astrological meaning. They felt it a fitting tribute to Esther and to everyone who steps foot through their doors.
After joining dramaworkshop as students in their early teens, Greg and Rebecca have gone on to gain a tremendous amount of experience within the industry, both on stage and off stage. Most recently Greg could be seen as Ryan Pilkinton in BBC1’s LINE OF DUTY (Series 1 & 5, 6) and Rebecca as Stacy in CH4’s RAISED BY WOLVES. and Beth Casey in THE ARCHERS. They Both also have a vast amount of stage experience, both have toured the UK in Various theatre shows and worked with BAFTA-winning directors. They have also devised and delivered many Theatre in Education workshops, working closely with schools across the Black Country, and were Nation Theatre Ambassadors for the UK tour of Macbeth. Gregory won a Royal Television Award for Best Newcomer when he was 14 years old and line of Duty won the 2021 NTA Award for Special Recognition.
They were Assistant Directors at dramaworkshop for a few years, since graduating in Drama from Dudely Evolve, and were very excited to become Directors in the Summer of 2020. As dramaworkshop Alumni, they have first-hand experience of the wonderful training and opportunity it offers. They are very passionate about continuing to help young people, just like they were, to achieve their potential and most importantly have lots of fun in a safe and supportive environment.
