Welcome to dramaworkshop
Dramaworkshop is a weekly Stourbridge based drama school for anyone aged 5+. Our aim is to inspire and develop confidence, creativity and imagination. It is a safe and supportive place where people can come to have fun, make friends and learn about the art of performing. Our projects are diverse and exciting covering all mediums of drama enabling our members to gain experience in theatre, television, radio and film.
Although we are not a casting centre, due to dramaworkshop's contacts within the industry, there are opportunities for auditions and castings in television, theatre, film and radio. We have had members cast in lead roles in BBC’s Line of Duty, Doctors and Channel 4's Raised By Wolves.
Dramaworkshop gives invaluable training and life skills whatever direction and career path our Workshoppers choose to take. Drama enables people to express themselves articulately, improves self esteem and teaches the importance of teamwork. It gives children, young people and adults a safe, encouraging and creative environment to express themselves and most importantly, have a lot of fun.
Dramaworkshop was established in 2010 by actress, writer and director Esther Stanford who after 10 years of paving the way for so many, handed the baton over to actors and dramworkshop alumni Gregory Piper & Rebecca Fuller.
Line of Duty
One of our Directors, Gregory Piper (a former Dramaworkshop member himself) has recently appeared as RYAN PILKINGTON in BBC1's LINE OF DUTY. Greg has played RYAN since he was just 13 years old. All series of LINE OF DUTY can be viewed on BBC iPlayer. The latest series is currently nominated for a National Television Award.
After joining dramaworkshop as students in their early teens, both Greg and Rebecca have gone on to gain a tremendous amount of experience within the industry, both on and off stage. Most recently Greg could be seen as Ryan Pilkington in BBC1's LINE OF DUTY (series 1 & 5, 6) and Rebecca as Stacey in CH4's RAISED BY WOLVES. and Beth Casey in THE ARCHERS. They both also have a huge amount of stage experience, both having toured the UK in various theatre shows and worked with BAFTA winning directors. They have also devised and delivered many Theatre in Education workshops, working closely with schools across the Black Country, and were National Theatre Ambassadors for the UK tour of Macbeth. Gregory won a Royal Television Award for Best Newcomer when he was 14 years old and Line of Duty is currently nominated for a National Television Award.
They were Assistant Directors at dramaworkshop for a few years, since graduating in Drama from Dudley Evolve, and are were very excited to become Directors in Summer 2020. As DramaWorkshop Alumni they have first hand experience of the wonderful training and opportunities it offers. They are very passionate about continuing to help children, just like they were, to achieve their potential and most importantly have lots of fun in a safe and supportive environment.
